Swing Beds

The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Swing Bed Program is a hospital based skilled nursing and rehabilitation program for individuals who no longer need acute care in a hospital, yet continue to need special care or rehabilitative therapy before they return home.

  • Multi-disciplinary collaboration for care and treatment of patients.
  • Wound care which requires daily assessment, management and treatment by skilled personnel.
  • Physical therapy treats patients with post surgical needs, stroke, functional decline, muscle weakness and orthopedic joint replacements.
  • Treatments include gait, transfer and balance training, as well as, pain management modalities.
  • Occupational therapy provides training in areas of self-care, adaptive
    equipment and rehabilitation for upper extremity dysfunctions.
  • Speech therapy specializing in evaluation and treatment of communication disorders and swallowing disorders.
  • Respiratory therapy is available to monitor and provide oxygen needs, nebulizer and chest therapy.
  • Medical management including extended IV therapy.

Your recovery will be assisted by a full team that creates a personalized recovery program for you.

  • Physical, Speech & Respiratory Therapists
  • Nursing Team

Arranging for a swing bed stay is easy. Anyone can contact us regarding this program. We have case managers ready to assist with any needs you may have. To quality for a swing bed, most insurances require a three day inpatient qualifying hospital stay.
